Lorraine Decker
I became involved with the Qld Horse Council in 2004 when I was passionately involved in saving our forest trails. I agreed to take on the secretary's role in October 2007 when I returned from overseas without realizing what lay ahead!
Before retirement, my business profile saw me as a Company Director, in Recruitment Management and a Sports Administrator.
I was a mature adult when I first became involved with horse riding and prior to that my sporting participation and administration experience included swimming, tennis, cricket and netball. I founded the Brisbane Netball Association in 1971 which led to Life Membership and being honoured by The Queen with a British Empire Medal for my Service to Sport.
I am currently involved with Wildlife and Koala Rescue when I'm not indulging in my horse riding passion of Competitive Trail Riding.

Chief Executive Officer

Dr Fiona Thompson BVSc (Hons)
I started my position of CEO for QHC in early August 2008. I graduated with honours in Veterinary Science at the University of Queensland in 1996. I began my career in Red Hill, Brisbane and then moved to Melbourne where I also worked in private practice. After moving back to Brisbane I started at Biosecurity Queensland working on the Equine Influenza (EI) Emergency Response part time, whilst still maintaining a part time position in a small animal clinic. The workload involved in the EI project became more demanding and I switched to full time work with the DPI&F. My interest and passion in horses is now confined to driving my two daughters and their ponies to lessons, Pony Club and competitions.

I first joined the Queensland Horse Council three years ago as an individual member believing in the benefits of membership and having a desire to contribute to Queensland's horse community. During the EI outbreak I accepted the role of Corporate Advisor.
Growing up in Queensland's rural region of the Granite Belt, my involvement with horses began as a child on the family property and has continued to be a focus in my life following my move to the West Moreton area. Being a small property and horse owner, my interest in horses has taken me to many event, seminars, clinics and expos where I have been fortunate to meet many people from across the industry, reinforcing my belief in the vital role the Queensland Horse Council has to play.
Corporately, I specialise in sales and logistics co-ordination, currently working for an ASX listed energy company where I work in logistics planning, systems design, development and implementation and also revenue budgeting valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars, forecasting and reporting.

Past President

Julie de Visser
I have had 30 years experience in the horse industry both in Australia and the UK. I have been involved in riding schools, studs and the Riding for the Disabled Association. I also developed and operated my own manufacturing and retail equine business for eight years.
I am currently employed as an Account Manager for CopRice, a manufacturer of horse, stock and companion animal feeds.
I have been studying horses for over 24 years, with many qualifications including a Bachelor of Applied Science (Animal Studies) majoring in equine. I am currently completing a Masters of Business Administration.
I have a strong commitment to voluntary work in general and the horse industry in particular.
I have owned all sorts of horses over the years. I have competed at State and National level dressage, but all breeds and equine activities interest me.
I am committed and passionate about building a stronger horse industry for all Queenslanders.
