SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING
Members were informed of serious concerns which necessitated the calling of a Special General Meeting last Monday 24th November to allow members to determine the future direction of the QHC. Those who attended will be aware that it was a stressful event and that threats of legal action were made against the QHC and those members who requisitioned the SGM and me as secretary for sending out the Notice.

However, the meeting was called in accordance with the wishes of members and in accordance with the Constitution and the members’ vote gave clear directions.

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR DIRECTORS
Accordingly, Associations are invited to nominate suitable members for secondment as a Director of the QHC Board of Directors. A nomination form is attached for your convenience and should be returned to the Secretary as soon as possible.

NEW PRESIDENT FOR QHC
On Saturday 29th November the Board of Directors met and elected Debbie Dekker as the QHC's new President.

Debbie comes to the presidency with a wealth of experience. She is self employed and has been involved in the horse world for more than 45yrs.

She grew up through the ranks of Pony Club competing in sporting, showjumping and dressage and successfully represented Pony Club at State level in all those fields.

Debbie started the foundation of her Stud when she was only 17 and has been breeding Andalusian horses ever since. She has been heavily involved in showing in hand and performance, both under saddle and more recently, harness.

Debbie has competed successfully in EFA Dressage at State and National Championships to Intermediate II.

At 18 she became an AHAA committee member at the foundation meeting of the QLD Branch and has been actively involved ever since serving as President of the Qld Branch for 12yrs, Federal Delegate for 7yrs and 1 term as President of the Federal Council.

She is a regular Judge and Steward at shows and various disciplines and has organised breed shows for State and National Championships and has run the Andalusian stand at the Horse Breeds Expo at Brisbane Royal Show for more than 12yrs.

She was employed by the DPI&F for a short period during the EI crisis as a Field Officer and earlier this year she did the DPI&F Building Rural Leaders Course.

Debbie has a strong sense of “giving back” to the horse community and a long history of volunteer work.
Her other Interests are Breeding Damara Sheep and Reading

Her Current Involvements:
AHAA Qld Committee Member since 1983
President of AHAA Qld for 12 years
Federal Delegate AHAA for 7 years
Federal President AHAA

NEW TREASURER FOR QHC
As Debbie formerly held the portfolio of Treasurer, Linda Nielsen has been elected as Treasurer. Linda grew up in rural Queensland and besides her passionate equine interests her expertise lies in the corporate world. She specializes in logistics planning, systems design, development and implementation and also revenue budgeting so she is ideally suited for the role of Treasurer.
